Your Questions, Answered

  • I’m not sure where to start. Should I do Colour Analysis or Style Foundations?

    • If your main goal is to understand which colours suit you best, start with a colour analysis. This will clarify your palette and make shopping and dressing easier.

    • If your main goal is to clarify your personal style, silhouettes, and wardrobe choices, start with Style Foundations. This is ideal if you want guidance on what pieces to keep, how to combine outfits, and how to dress confidently for your lifestyle.

    • Many clients choose to combine both services for a complete foundation, understanding both their colours and their style direction.

Can I do a wardrobe edit first?
A full wardrobe edit is only available to existing clients who have completed either a colour analysis or Style Foundations session. This ensures your edit is aligned with your palette and style, making it more effective and tailored to your life.

I’m considering a group session. Is that right for me?
Group colour analysis sessions are perfect for friends, family, workplaces, or events. Each participant receives their own analysis in a relaxed, shared setting. Group sessions are ideal if you want a collaborative experience.

  • What accreditations does your colour analyst hold?
Your colour analysis is led by Kristen, a trained personal stylist who studied at the Australian College of Professional Styling and the Italian Image Institute (colour analysis theory and practice). Kristen also brings 10 years’ experience as an educator to your consultation, ensuring that sessions are structured, thoughtful and focused on helping you truly understand your colours.

What colour analysis system does The Considered Closet use?
The Considered Closet uses the Italian Armocromia method, a professional colour analysis system that identifies the palette most harmonious with your natural colouring.

    How many palettes are there?
There are 16 possible palettes in total:

    • 4 True seasons: True Summer, True Autumn, True Winter and True Spring

    • 12 sub-seasons: including Soft, Light and Bright variations (such as Soft Autumn, Light Summer, Bright Spring)

Not everyone fits neatly into a True season. Some people have a dominant quality, such as depth, brightness or coolness, that is better supported by a sub-season palette.

By testing across all 16 palettes, each analysis is precise, practical and easy to apply in everyday life. The aim is clarity, confidence and a wardrobe that truly works for you.

What happens during a colour analysis session

A colour analysis session with The Considered Closet is a thoughtful, personalised experience. Here is what you can expect

    Discovering your undertone
We start by exploring your natural undertone using cool and warm drapes, frames and metallics. This helps determine whether your colouring leans cooler or warmer, setting the foundation for your palette

    Assessing intensity and contrast
Using specially designed drapes and frames, we assess your intensity and contrast levels. This step allows us to place you in a home season, the seasonal family of colours that harmonises most naturally with your features

    Determining your seasonal palette
In this step we explore seasonal groups and sub-groups, as well as potential sister seasons. When needed, we apply tonal and flow theory to determine the colours that harmonise most naturally with your features. During this stage we identify your sub-season or, in some cases, confirm that you are a true season.

    Makeup, hair and wardrobe guidance
Next, we discuss makeup options, hair colour directions and any wardrobe questions you may have, helping you translate your colour insights into your everyday life

    Discovering your palette
You will then explore your full palette with examples of fabric swatches, lip colours and a sample palette that demonstrates the range and harmony of your colours

    Your take-home resources
You will leave with a business card sized summary of your key colours and, after your session, you will receive a full digital palette along with further advice and tips in a follow-up email

Every step of the session is designed to leave you feeling confident, inspired and equipped to make thoughtful, colour-conscious choices that reflect your personal style

Can I wear makeup to my colour analysis?
For the most accurate results, it is recommended that you do not wear make up to your session.

Can I have a spray tan or fake tan?
Spray tan or fake tan can affect colour accuracy. If possible, please arrive without fake tan or ensure it has fully faded. If this is not avoidable, let me know ahead of time so your analysis can be approached thoughtfully.

What space is required for a colour analysis session?
Colour analysis sessions require access to:

    • a space near natural light

    • a chair

Our analyst will bring all professional colour drapes and equipment required. If you are unsure whether your lighting will work, please get in touch after making your booking. We can arrange to bring additional lighting if needed.

Do I need to bring anything?
No. Everything required for your colour analysis is provided. You are welcome to bring makeup or wardrobe questions, but nothing is essential.

  • Do you offer group bookings?
Yes. Group colour analysis sessions are available for small groups and are perfect for friends, family, workplaces, or special events. Each participant receives their own individual analysis within a relaxed, shared setting.

How many people can be included in a group booking?
You can book for two or three people. Details are outlined in the booking options, or you are welcome to enquire about a tailored group package (for example, a group of four or six.) Event packages are also available for mini analysis sessions if you are thinking of booking for an event such as a hens party.

What space is required for a group colour analysis?
    You will need access to:

    • a space with good natural light

    • a chair for each participant

Our analyst will bring all professional colour drapes and equipment required for the session.

  • What is Style Foundations?
Style Foundations is a personalised consultation designed to clarify your personal style, including your preferences, lifestyle needs, silhouettes, and visual direction, before editing your wardrobe or shopping. It creates a strong, intentional foundation for how you want to dress moving forward.

    Is Style Foundations about trends?
This service is intentionally timeless and individual. The focus is on longevity, ease, and helping you feel like yourself. If, however, you would like to explore current trends, this can be integrated into your session on request.

Do I need to know my colour season before doing Style Foundations?
Not necessarily. Style Foundations can be completed on its own or combined with colour analysis for a more holistic foundation. Both approaches work beautifully.

Is there any preparation required before my Style Foundations session?
Yes. To make the most of our time together, we will send you a short piece of pre-work beforehand. This includes:

    • a brief questionnaire about your lifestyle and preferences

    • selecting:

      • one item you love to wear (your hero piece)

      • one item you would like to wear more often

      • one item you feel unsure about

This helps guide the session and ensures it is practical, relevant, and deeply personalised.

Will we do a full wardrobe edit during Style Foundations?
No. Style Foundations is not a full wardrobe edit. It focuses on clarity and understanding why things work or do not work, and how to make more confident choices going forward. We will, however, style some outfits together so that you can see your style anchors in practice.

  • Can I combine colour analysis and style services?
Yes. Colour analysis and Style Foundations can be booked together for a more holistic experience. Combining the two allows us to understand both what colours suit you best and how you want to dress, creating a strong foundation before editing your wardrobe or shopping.

I want a full wardrobe edit. Can you do this for me?
Yes. A full wardrobe edit is available through The Signature Wardrobe Edit. This service is available to existing clients only.

To book a wardrobe edit, you must have previously completed either:

    • a colour analysis

    • or a Style Foundations session

This ensures the edit is efficient, aligned, and deeply personalised.

Why is the wardrobe edit only available to existing clients?
A wardrobe edit works best when there is already clarity around your colours, style direction, or both. Completing a colour analysis or Style Foundations first allows us to make confident decisions, avoid overwhelm, and create a wardrobe that truly supports your life and personal style.

What if I am not sure which service to start with?
If you are unsure where to begin, you are welcome to get in touch before booking. We can talk through your goals and identify the service that will best support you right now.

  • Do you travel for in-person sessions?
Yes. In-person Colour Analysis, Style Foundations, and group sessions are available in the Macedon Ranges/ Melbourne and surrounds. Travel fees apply outside of the Macedon Ranges. Please see our services/bookings page for more details.

What space is required for a session at my location?

    • Colour analysis sessions require a space with natural light and a chair

    • Style Foundations sessions require a space large enough for you to discuss wardrobe items comfortably and access to your wardrobe.

If you are unsure whether your space or lighting is suitable, please get in touch after booking. Kristen can arrange to bring additional lighting or adjust the setup to ensure your session runs smoothly.

Do I need to provide anything else for a session at my location?
No. Kristen provides all necessary materials, including colour drapes, tools, and guides. You only need to provide the space, seating, and, for Style Foundations, any wardrobe items relevant to the pre-work you complete beforehand.

  • Can I book a service for my child?

Colour analysis and an awareness of style anchors can certainly be helpful at any age. However, The Considered Closet specialises in working with adult women, with services and packages thoughtfully tailored to those navigating life transitions, along with professionals and mothers.

For this reason, one-to-one services are best suited to clients aged 18 and over.

If a younger family member is interested in being included in a Group Colour Analysis, a parent or legal guardian is welcome to get in touch at info@theconsideredcloset.com.au to discuss options.

  • Will my session be recorded?

We sometimes use client images and videos as part of our social media and educational content. Before your session, you’ll be invited to opt in or out of having parts of your colour analysis or styling session photographed or recorded. This is entirely optional and there is absolutely no expectation to participate. Your comfort always comes first, and choosing not to be included will not change your experience in any way. If you do feel comfortable opting in, it is greatly appreciated as it helps us to educate others and bring colour analysis and styling to more women.
